Do BLackbirds make more than one nest then choose later?:

I know that some birds do, and I can see 2 constructions from my bedroom window, but not seen them at it at the same time. Having said that, THere are at least 2 Males & females around here so it's just as likely that they are individual nests.

One of the nests is in the Ivy on my fence (which I was about to cut well back!!). You may remember that a nest was built last year ( http://www.thamesvalleybirds.co.uk/b...e-nesting.html ) but abandoned (I think after a cat got on top of the fence and the birds choose discretion over valour )

Nope, don't think they do that, although I believe they use old nests., nice to know you've potentially got two pairs though.

I know I asked the question, but to be honest I think that it's 2 pairs, it's just that they are so close together...... but then, although there is obviously enough food around here, the nesting opportunities are limited Still, they are both viewable from my bedroon window, so I should witness quite a few comings and goings, and should be able to lighten their load (food-wise). I've already pulled up some suitable lengths of dried grass and put them where they are looking, along with some food.
