Red Damsel fly - alone and couple

I'm afraid that it includes more of the naughty stuff..... Again, it's by the small pond at my workplace - I can just pop out for 10 mins at lunchtime.

Nice shots Louise, I think that's the Large Red Damsel - Pyrrhosoma nymphula

You are right - I had spotted that but neglected to add the 'Large'.. I'm easily distracted ***ooh, cup of tea....****


Mind you - how they can call it a 'large' damselfly I don't know, it's tiny - goodness knows how small the ordinary one is !!!!!

There's not a great difference in size though - 31mm and 36 mm - half a centimeter is only going to show up in straight comparison... luckily their pattering is quite distinctly different.

Yes . the large red should be called Golden-tailed I reckon
