The equipment I use is a Canon 30D with Sigma 50-500mm lens. I also have a garden hide from which I take most of my pictures.

I can see i'm going to keep viewing some excellent photography from you Babs (and others too no doubt) and my apologies if that sounds a little patronising but I insist on giving fair credit where due.

How lucky you can not only have a Siskin in your garden but photograph it too. Again......nice one Babs.

Thankyou all for your kind comments

This is the first year I have been visited by Siskins. I first spotted a female perched on a branch a few weeks ago, well the next day the male appeared and the next day there was 10+ and they visit every day. I have had to start working overtime to pay for all the sunflower hearts they devour

I'm repeating myself here Babs but you really are so very lucky having the Siskin visit your garden. The status of bird species varies throughout the country but the Siskin as far as I am aware is not your average 'seen every day' bird. In our neck of the woods the Siskin is by no means an easy bird to find/see.

pete, they are regular winter visitors around where i live and can be seen in flocks of around 15 or so in and around the ingol/ ashton area of preston. i have only ever had one lone male in my garden though.. and that was some years ago

    Thanks for this Andy.

Not TOO much emphasis on the 'in our neck of the woods the Siskin is by no means an easy bird to find/see' just saying the species isn't your average Robin/Chaffinch/Blackbird every day bird. No question Babs is really lucky to have them as a garden bird.
