We may have a very small back garden now, but it hasn't stopped wildlife visiting it....................
Apart from Frogs, dragonflies and a Mouse of some kind (which loves nibbling cardboard boxes in the toolshed), we have Sonic (named by my son) the Hedgehog. Now I'm not sure whether Sonic is male or female, but 'he' is certainly a big one!
'He' visits the food under the little shelter every night, and the cat biscuits, dried mealworms, sunflower hearts and peanuts have always gone in the morning. Just a few cat biscuit crumbs remain!
Not only that, but 'he' is sleeping during the day in the Hedgehog house I sited in the back corner of the garden! (I peeped in carefully one day to check!)
Having purchased new bird feeders which deter Squirrels, I now am happy that I have the balance right in favour of the birds in that respect. Birds are all the commoner species, but there are still many baby ones around - particularly Blue Tits, Great Tits and Goldfinches, the latter being fed by their parents at the water feature yesterday! So I am not alone!
Here are two pics of Sonic - in the distance, eating 'his' dinner, then turning round to explore elsewhere!
