    This little bird was singing away merrily all morning and even trying to compete with an aeroplane

    Olympus Evolt E520, and borrowed lenses and flash. Fuji Finepix S7000 for Macro A chair :)

    Birds do have to try very hard in the noise-polluted world that we have created.

    Yesterday, my blackbird was so loud that when I opened the back door I almost stepped back and closed it - the particular sound he was making at the time was extremely loud and piercing. (a tree about 30ft away). But it would have been heard above even a helicopter!

    Yes . They can be very loud and have a variety of sounds too.
