    Default Wildlife sculpture

Whilst wandering around the Victoria harbour-front we found this lovely sculpture. Very clever it is too - as the wind blows the sails spin round and this turns the bevel gears in the yoke below the main mount. The bird flaps its wings as the gears spin

Wow, that bird sculpture is great, and must look wonderful when it's in full flow. Even the sails are interesting. I'm not so keen on the dolphins (or Orcas?) though - I'm wary of anything that has poppy, luminous-green eyes

They are orcas in that second sculpture - there are a LOT of whale watching companies operating in Vic. I'll put some whale pics up over the weekend.

They like their sculptures in Victoria - we must have passed at least 100 of all types and sorts from pretty stuff like the above to weird abstract concepts - 12 terracotta red chinamen squatting on their haunches facing towards each in a big circle. Very strange that one.

They seem to have a lot in the north of England - a friend of mine has recently been shooting a lot of them, and this is a particularly fantastic place - Yorkshire Sculpture Park http://www.ysp.co.uk/view.aspx?id=443, although this shot of a sculpture in ST Helens is particularly nice Star Trail 2 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!.
