Cormorant

Today along the estuary a rather large bird glided in with a splosh. I watched it for a while wondering what it was , then I saw it diving and I knew it was a Cormorant, I waited for a while taking snaps then he came onto the shore to preen and dry off. here is a nice photo of him drying his wings

Strange but quite intriguing birds Chocky, I managed to get a couple of photos last year, they are on the www.wellenkamp.com site, but they were taken from a distance.

They are quite big and rather not goodlooking but yeas intriguing. When they dive they come up quite away from where they went down

They have a few down at the nearby gravel pits, must go down there during the summer and see if I can get some shots.

Gravel pits. I know they can also like Herons fish in fresh water Tere are a few at kelsaey Park in Kent. I must upload our local heron . He visits the park and you wouldn''t believe this hege bird nests in tree tops.
Are there fish in the gravel pit?

Yes Chocky, it is owned by an angling club, so the Cormorants are not too popular.

Oh .I was picturing a quarry gravel pit.

Now that's strange, I added it at 08:00 this morning and it showed a picture which would indicate that the video is there, but searching with the number says no video found.
