Got a surprise this morning at 08:00, looked in the garden and there was the first hedgehog I've seen in a couple of years, haven't even seen the signs of their presence for that time.

That's great - I do have them in my garden, but only ever catch them at night, and by the time I've seen them ,they'v seen me and just stop still.
Are you suprised.Lol
Maybe they think you will feed them.
Yep - they like the cat food and don't seem to eat the blinkin' slugs!!!!
Lol. Fatten up the slugs

.. don't, they ARE fattening up on all of my veg!!!! I can't tell you how many plants I've lost this year (and am still losing) I wouldn't mind so much, but I want to save money by growing them as well as having nicer fresh veg. I could never become a Buddhist, I enjoy getting slugs too much!!!
Me neither. I don't know what to suggest.
We gave some one one, one of our a Kittens(long time ago now) and it grew up into a beautiful cat. Jesse. It was just like Postman Pat's. The owners put slug pellets in their garden and when Jesse had kittens herself they all but one had to be destroyed by the vet. None of them had pads poor little thing the bone was showing on all four paws of 4 of them the fith had some pad tissues and was kept. Would you believe they were both teachers. I was upset. I think they learned a valuable lesson.
That's so sad
I have never used slug pellets, but I have used nematodes which target the slugs & snails only. Mostly though it's just elbow grease and trying to fool them by putting more attractive stuff out for them to nosh on. It never works very well!!! In fact I have just been out on a slug hunt - I do feel a little guilty sometimes (it's like genocide!), but then I see a row of stalks where plants used to be and I get all 'Schwarzenegar"!!!
LOl. I know that a bucket of bear attracts one of the pests. It might be earwigs I can't remember, They crawl into the bucket to get to the bear and can't get out . Probably tipsy but I can't remember which insect. Lol I know we used to lif up the large concrete slabs and poor f BBQ fire-lighter fuel on the ants nsts and set it alight. Well away from the house mind
Beer is good for catching slugs, there are special little traps which you sink into your flower bed, they crawl into it and party so hard that they expire.
Oh . I though it was slugs.
But what is psty?
It was a typo Chocky, was meant to read Party.
Oh ha ha . Right.
Shucks. I thought I was going to learn some thing new.
Want something new? Well, if you put bran down for them a) they like it a lot and eat that instead, and b) it supposedly does for them ( dehydrates them or something, although some say they explode!). Of course, it's difficult in recent weather!! Yes, beer traps are good.... but you just can't put enough of them out to really do the job!!!
Exploding slugs .
Intergalactic exploding slugs
