Taken this evening at Lavell's lake. Apologies for noise but had to turn ISO up.
Nice one Joe, great to see him in residence.
I was told that they raised at least 2 young ones this year.
What an amazing face that bird has - quite unmistakable!
I've yet to see any Barn Owls down here - lots of very-noisy-at-night Tawny Owls though.
Just wish I could see some tawnys
Just been looking at a video clip I took , I found this frame. What a surprise for me.
Awww, that's just lovely!
I love, when looking at pics on the computer after an outing, I find something new or unexpected as you have there!
The pair of Tawny Owls were very noisy throughout the nights during the warm weather last week when we had all the upstairs windows open. It was really easy to detect their positions and flight paths from their calls - but we never saw them. The most we've seen recently has been a shadow against a brightish sky as one moved from tree to tree.
That's great Joe, was around there this evening, one of them finally made an appearance at ten past 6, waited for it to fly, but he just looked around for twenty minutes. Finally went home when it got too dark for even binoculars.
Well done Rolf. I've yet to see him fly when there's enough light to see by.
