Yes, calendars are a good idea for Christmas gifts particularly for someone like you Beryl who has no shortage of photographs to cover the twelve months. I did one for myself for 2008 and think I may make a couple this year as the aforementioned gifts.

I have the facilities to do the calendars as I do a lot of craft and make all my own cards. So might think along those lines if I have time.
