Rock Pipit- Anthus petrosus

Was chatting to a pal who does the bird counts on the Exmouth Local nature reserve for the ( he's the sec') and we spotted a Rock Pipit
I managed to get a few shots of. These little birds just never keep still. They are very cute though.
The first two pics he is having digging for insects in a hole and gives you a good view of his back The second are just different side shots

Yes. I was so pleased. I wouldn't have known but for Rupert Ormerod . He's very hi up in the wildlife conservation etc for the Exmouth reserve and said immediately which Pipit it was

I envy people with that sort of knowledge, but I guess that if you are working with wildlife, you will have that sort of instant knowledge.

Me too. I said "Oh look, a Meadow Pipit" I was very quickly corrected. So was pleased he was there. Those birds look so similar. He said that there were Red-breasted Merganser as well but they stay far out. would love to have a digiscope like his too
