    Excellent, thanks Cris, some wonderful shots there.

    Certainly looked a more gentle time, but having said that, it was probably a lot harder then than now.

    Oh, lovely set, thanks for posting them. They really made their horse and mules work - how much wood were those pair of horses pulling!!!!!
    A harder time for sure for most people, but some elements, like the slower lifestyle wouldn't go amiss nowadays. There was a great series on UK TV about a group of historians who lived on a 19th century farm for a year. Of course, they knew that if there were any real problems they would be fine (and of course, healthcare is a real difference), but they all really appreciated the slower pace and the feeling of real achievement. I'm sure that there is a middle ground that we could follow.
