Juvenile Toad at Keyhaven

I hadn't seen a Toad for ages - then this little chap popped up in front of us at Keyhaven!

He was trying to cross the road to the salt marshes, but I tried to tell him it wouldn't be a good idea as there was a Little Egret there - as well as many other hungry birds with long bills!

I just hope he stayed on the safe side, among the long grasses.....

Nice one Catherine, Toads have a strange beauty. I know that mammals don't like the taste of toads, but I guess the big birds like heron, don't taste their lunch.

Nice catch - he's got good camouflage... and a very determined look on his face.
