Springtime means nests - Blackbird

It looks like I have a Blackbird making a nest in the ivy on my fence. I was at the kitchen sink when I saw this lady with a beak full of moss. She went behind the ivy about 12 feet away and came out empty-beaked so I thought "What a shame, she dropped it whilst hiding". I left the kitchen but when I came back saw the same thing.... and the penny dropped

The lucky thing is that I had half-stripped the ivy off and was due to finish the rest next weekend. Mind you, my cat has already shown interest (and there are many cats in the area) so I don't know how long they would last anyway

This is taken through the kitchen window so it has a slight cast to it. I tried this morning to stand at the kitchen door but suddenly realised that the cat had got out before me and was on top of the fence scaring her off so I had no time to wait for the bird to return (assuming she does of course)

Nice photo Louise, we had a pair of Blackbirds building a nest in the Pirocantha by the front door, but it looks like they've abandoned it now, probably got too busy for them.
