    Default Dunnock - Prunella modularis

    The pair in my garden - you can just see the second one in the background. They have been amazingly 'forward' and I am seeing them out in the open so much more than I used to even though I always throw a bit of seed under the bushes for the shy little birds.

    LOL, Catherine - what a mind you have!

    What I have discovered is that the lovely call that I have been hearing recently is of the Dunnock. From what I had found on the web I didn't realise that they could be such lovely singers. I was very surprised when I finally spotted who was making the lovely song.

    Not only is the Dunnock's song beautiful, Louise, but the male (I guess?) sits on our fence just feet from us and belts it out with no worries about us being there.

    Only the Robin or Blackcap come close to that!

    The same here, Catherine - they've never been as daring as they have this year, and my (what I also assumed was the male) Dunnock also sits on a fence just a few feet away... which delights me greatly
