Mute Swan defends against dog!

This mute swan gets into action to protect it's 9 cygnets!

They all made it to fledging size. Today there are still 6 on the Pond and the other 3 were taken away to swan sanctuary!

hehe, well my daft dog zach a greyhound thinks all swans should play with him, no matter how much i tell him to get out the way and not follow em into the water!!

Unfortunately this happens a lot on Hampstead Heath. I grew up there it was my childhood playground. Some folk have no control over their dogs and think it's funny and the first two ponds have beaches

the only bit i find funny bout my dog, is when he flys into the water a huge splash - then he reverses out of, wont turn round.

Personally i worry bout what harm it might do to the cygnets or swans if a dog didnt run away.. so now i know hes a idiot round em, i have a long line hes on when near em i can reel him in!!

i worked in a rescue center, with them once i met someone whos arm had been broken by a grumpy swan during a rescue from fishing line... grumpy worse than me!!

Yes. Your right Billy They do run away very quickly. A swan can kill a small dog .

they dont know a swan is a devil in disguise ---- you need to see the grumpy male at california park - hes grumpy all year round!!

When I took that video I was just sitting still by the bank very close to the swans and even though the cob was going for the dog that aggression did not come onto me. You'd think that it would go for the dog and then for me but this was not so.

There has been a lot of drama's of late concerning the Hampstead Heath swans!

There was when I was growing up. Some people who aren't interested in wildlife can't see why they shouldn't throw stick and things at then and other birds.
Very sad
