Canary Wharf from Muswell Hill, North London

I wasn't expecting to see Canary Wharf from here, and it wouldn't have crossed my mind, except for the fact that those towers are very familiar. It's 8 miles as the crow flies. Th second shot is the main road.. which this road comes off.
It's a really nice area here with some surprisingly quiet roads just off the extremely busy main roads.. and there's a lovely cheese shop Couldn't afford to get a place here, though
Ooh, and whilst sitting in a restaurant I saw Todd Carty walk by (of Grange Hill and Eastenders fame). I know, not really that exciting!

You're right there, Rolf, I hadn't thought of that... although I suppose back then it would have been a trip out of London for him

Up there again (funnily enough almost a year to the day I took the original shots), and took another one from a slightly different angle. I was so struck at the time that you could see Canary Wharf from there that I didn't spot that just a little further to the left and I could have seen the Millennium Dome (now the O2 / O2 Dome). It fascinates me how far you can see when you get up in the hills.

Yes, there are some quite spectacular views from the North Circular NE section. Love townscapes, particularly the old ones.

Well, on Wednesday we saw it from the Thames - albeit through water- splashed windows of Thames Clipper.

It's really fascinating how those tall buildings change as you move around them. (Might post a few in another thread - even though they're not great, but just to let you see what I mean!)

Oh yes, Catherine. When I lived in London I was a South London girl (Brixton - got there a few weeks after the first riots, and lived just at the edge of the second riots), but my other half lives in North London so I don't get down there now - I've therefore not seen Canary Wharf in real life. I do plan to go there sometime, but will seek permission to photograph before I go there so as to not get pulled up by the security guards
