Captured in my garden this morning.
Excellent captureBabs.
Well done
Yes, great shot Babs, I'm sure these are tame birds.
Thanks Chocky and rolf, it was a total suprise I had never seen one in the garden before. We usually have to travel all the way to Rivington to see one
Well hopefully once they've found you Babs, they'll be regular visitors, probably my favourite birds in the garden.
Yes it is a very nice photo. I like these little birds
I haven't seen one of these . I quite like it. Nice pic.
A lovely picture of a beautiful bird
well babs, what a lovely picture of a cracking little bird!!
i,m quite lucky up here in preston, i live near to Ingol golfcourse. i use the surrounding area as my 'local patch'. there are a number of old deciduous trees present, so a walk around usually throws up a nuthatch or two.
even if you don't actually spot them, their distintive call can be heard.
in 2005 i found a pair nest building. i watched them narrowing the hole with mud. the birds worked tirelessly and eventually fledged three young.
one morning i was privileged to follow the family as they flit from tree to tree on an early foraging mission. i watched them for a good 3/4 hour before they flew to more inaccessible places.
earlier this year i spotted another nuthatch nest building. unfortunately, after several return visits, it appeared that the bird had decided against the nestsite....... well, there's always next year!!
anyway i hope your nuthatch returns as they a joy to see.
regards, andy b.
Well, Andy B, I do envy you having been able to watch them build and forage like that - and a family as well!
Great photo, Babs!
