Default osprey at leighton moss rspb reserve

a trip to leighton moss rspb reserve, today, produced a star bird. an osprey was present all the time i was there. an osprey has been around the reserve for the last day or two. it was perched up in a tall 'bare' tree. this tree seems to be a favourite, as i've seen them in this tree before. it was quite a distance away so the pics i took were of very poor quality.... infact the best pic i could come up with, as you can see, ( lets call it an action shot) was the osprey getting rid of a previous fish supper!!!. i watched as the osprey took to flight, dive and return to the perch with a fish in it's talons. one of these pics shows the bird with the fish...although very distant. the osprey was to be the first of a few great birds i saw today.

Nice shots there Andy, perhaps the Sedge Warbler deserves a thread of its own.

Glad you had a good day here Andy but you haven't mentioned the Eric M'cbe complex where there was three Spoonbill today, two yesterday when I was there. I found two Wood Sandpiper there too but they have had no mention today. Also here are good number of Black-tailed Godwit and around 24 Avocet, and at least one Mediterranean Gull, and if you look really hard always the possibility of something to find for yourself and become famous for the day.

The equipment I use is a Canon 30D with Sigma 50-500mm lens. I also have a garden hide from which I take most of my pictures.
