Greater Spotted Woodpecker juvenile

Well this little beauty didn't let me down this year. It's been back and forth all day yesterday and really exploring around the feeders and making a meal out of my oaktree stump filled with fat.

It nearly came a cropper yesterday, I was side on watching it and it was just clinging on to the stump not eating but just taking in the sounds around when all of a sudden a a big brown bird (bird of prey) flew in quickly behind it and headed straight for the juvenile. Luckily it sensed it at the last minute and shot off quickly followed by the attacker. I was shocked and couldn't believe it I went indoors and kept looking out of the window for the juvenile to return and fearing the worst. Luckily after about thirty minutes I spotted the juvenile back in the garden with the adult.
