northern wheatear

this pic was taken last year in the trough of bowland ( apparently the queen once said this was her favourite part of britain).
this is another of my favourite birds. the northern wheatear is found mostly on heath and moorland areas, but can turn up anywhere at this time of year, on passage. it has the distinctive 't' shaped pattern at the tip of its tail.

Haven't seen one of those Andy, although there was apparently one at Moor Green on my last but one visit, just couldn't spot it.

I'm presuming that it is a female, had a play with the colour in photoshop and that's the conclusion I came to.

yep,... the colour was a bit off. the image was quite dark as i digiscoped it on a murky day, from a distance away.

Ah yes, the auto colour adjustment in photoshop is quite good, this is what it came up with.

What a lovely little bird and well spotted andy, yet another bird I have never seen. I love it's colour. We have passed the trough of bowland on the way to Ingleton but never stopped to take a look, must keep it in mind for the future, thanks for sharing

Yes I have to agree. Rolf has brought out a good colouration in the photo.
