I'm convinced that we are sleepwalking into a problem here, the population of Ringnecks is increasing at a dramatic rate, they have few predators and are ideally adapted to using feeders. If as suggested they are deterring songbirds from using feeders, then as Parakeet numbers rise, we may see a dip in songbird.
I've never seen them in a garden yet, and am really glad we have none here.
It is expensive enough buying sunflower hearts for the HUGE number of Greenfinches, Goldfinches, Bullfinches and Siskins we've had calling....
They haven't made them over to here yet either, but are not too far away, they seem to be following the Thames.
