Hiya people,
Ive had a brilliant and windy 5 days in norfolk -- one day so windy the geese went backwards...
I visited a lot of churches, a lot of beaches and some reserves.
Strumpshaw fen -- Amazing location, cross the railway lines and theres a bird feeder before the reception - im told i saw a marsh tit but it looked like a blackcap like me, will post it. The reception hide is cool, out doors or a indoor one - indoors with coffee machine some would say thats bliss!!
They have other hides i made it to the second hide, only just and thats where the otters had been seen.
On the way back i saw a tree creeper, wonderful birds made it worth it.
Titchwell -- A fab busy little reserve, wonderful to have a cafe and you can sit and watch the birds at the feeder. The otherside of the main shop is a bigger feeder area, was so many birds to watch. The little hide round the back, was empty due to the weather it was blowing a gale. Though apparently once its not blowy the marsh harriers live round there.
I didnt make it to the biggest hide but wow it looked amazing... But note the toilets are in the carpark!!
Both sites can be accessed with schooter, id recomend if your not as mobile getting one to go to the beach and the big hide...
I also stoped off on beaches ect, saw stonechat, marsh harrier i go a distance shot, so many geese, robins. The stonechats were my highlight, was wonderful to sit and watch them for a hour bobing around.
Cant wait to move there and hunt down more locations to watch birds..
