Are lenses for the Olympus E-500 more expensive than lenses for cameras such as the Nikon D50/ D70? Espescially macro lenses.
I'm thinking from fleabay/ used rather than new.
Thanks
You don't tend to get too many used ones on places like ebay, apart from the original kit lenses that is, as the system is still relatively new. The Zuiko Digital lenses tend to carry a premium on price, but they are superb quality, you can also of course use the Leica E-System lenses as well.
There are often some lenses available at places like www.fourthirdsphoto.com in their for sale section, as people sometimes switch systems, or upgrade to bigger or better lenses, there are quite a few professionals on that forum.
Cheers Rolf. I bought a Canon in the end; the lens prices are savage
Well I'm waiting for the new Olympus 70-300mm lens to arrive, should be less than £300 and will focus down to less than a metre, so should be quite useful.
mhuk try going for sigma or tamron. Sill aint cheap but a damn sight cheaper than Canon.
Use a hacked 300D myself which effectivley makes it a 10D, Canon were trying to pull a flanker when the 10D/300D came out, some Russian guy worked it out, hence the hack I have.Change the firmware in the camera and who would believe the 300D became a 10D ......That is when I dont use the Panasonic Fz 50.
only use it 'cause it beats the heck out of carrying a bagful of gear (the FZ50 that is)
Cheers for the suggestions. At the moment I'm use some old Nikon (SLR) lenses with an adapter.
I've had a look at the Tamron and Sigma's (17-50mm and 17-70mm): it sounds like as they're designed for a 1.6x camera that there'll be no change of focal length i.e. they'll be 17mm not 27mm. Or did I read the blurb wrong?
No, I think they'll still have the multiplication factor.
