No camera

I was driving through Chesham last Friday and had to double-take. Walking along the pavement, close to the road was a beautiful peacock. Couldn't really stop and didn't have the camera with me anyway. Must say it was a bit of a shock though.

Probablylost it's way from a captive area.Hope it is well and found it's way home. They are lovely birds. Pitty about you not having a camera.

I have never seen a peacock /hen fly. Can they?
I have seen the behaving like seagulls on picknic tables , couldn't believe my eyes.
Have some nice photos fro a years or so ago at Paignton Zoo

I have read that Peacocks can fly and often fly up into trees in the evening to keep safe. I don't know how far they can fly though, can't say I've ever seen one a my local reserve or flying over my garden..................now that would be a sight

There's a bit more to my day out. After Chesham, went to the World's End Garden centre near Aylesbury. While walking round the greenhouse plants area, a robin was flying backwards and forwards inside. Seemed to be very unsettled. As we went on a bit I almost stepped on a tiny fledgling robin on the floor. It looked like a ball of wool. This made me realise that the one flying around was the worried mother. So I managed to get one of the staff to bring a small box which we used to move the baby to a safer place and it popped out to where the mother had better access. Had to leave it at that. Hope she managed to encourage it to fly.

Ahhh. Hope all ended well
I watch a Robin evrey day flying back and forth across the brook. I wondered what it was donig. May the same , trying to teach the young (not yet seen) to fly. This robin spends ages doing this. I will have to keep watching. It only started doing this last week.
