Ringed Mallard Hybrids

Saw these at Bucklers Hard, Beaulieu, yesterday.

Strangely enough, only the hybrids (and little 'Daisy'*) were ringed!

* I am assuming she is a leucistic variation...

There is a specially bread duck called the Silver Appleyard (Reginald Appleyard) Bread for eggs and meat . I expect some escaped and have mated back with normal with mallards We have some in our local park and I thought they were Leucistic
There are miniatures and very large types

I had noticed that breed once before, but they are more of a whitish colouring, with much darker feather markings. Also, they have a very distinct dark line down the back of their heads.

'Daisy' was a yellowish-cream and her feather markings were only in a darker shade of that. It is very possible she is a hybrid - though she is a very pretty duck!

Yes. They seam to vary a bit as they now bread large and miniature Silver Appleyards
Here is a lovey throwback with here ducklings from last year and I followed this mother )Noisiest duck in the park) from when she was a duckling hereself .First time I had see none and thought she was Leucistic.
Two of each ducklings above survived . Two are snow white and to are Silver
