    Always make sure the bird you are photographing is a Goldcrest and not a Firecrest then Beryl......one day its going to be the latter.

    Firecrests have an orange streak through the gold on the crown ans a thick white band over the eye with light orange just above the bill.

    Correct Beryl, and that makes them quite easy to separate from the Goldcrest, thats if they keep still long enough.

    Re Firecrests - are they around Exeter? The only place I know where they used to be with some regularity was around Wendover Woods (near where I grew up).
    Are they doing a bit better now then?

    great pic, firecrest i dont think i ever seen yet, but as stated the likkle devils dont sit still for long lol, i had my first gold here last year, amazing, but i get like 3 seconds and its gone 50 yards away, lovely pic.
