Default Swimming against the tide - Coot - Fulica atra

A plucky little coot trying to fight against the tumble of water from the lock... it could just have flown up and over.
Maybe this is the bird version of an adventure ride

All it did was swim up to the 'white water', get swept back and then swim back again. I watched it for 10 mins or so until I got bored.
If it was expecting fish it was making a lot of work for itself, it would have been better off hanging about 10 feet or so away - it certainly didn't spot anything whilst I was there, just used up a lot of energy
