Nice pair of piccies. I've never heard of that swan before - the beak looks really long. Is it long or just the angle.. or just me!
Thanks, yes the beak is really long. Trumpeter Swans - Cygnus buccinator are named after it's trumpet like call and is the loudest and largest of all wildfowl.

Spend a fair bit of time at the Washington site of WWT. Have some pics to post.Not sure how many I can post in a day. They are great places and have some unusual species
Not sure rolf whether they migrate or not rolf, I did see them last year too. Apparently they were once slaughtered for their feathers which were used to adorn hats make powder puffs and quill pens. Strict protection and the establishment of reserves has enabled numbers to recover
Yes I heard that, they were apparently down to numbers in the hundreds.
