I am new on here and was wondering if anyone could identify this bird for me.
It is dark brown on colour and has a purple sheen on the body and green sheen on the head like a mallard but is only a bit smallet than a canada goose.

Your duck is called Black East Indies Duck. We have quite a few down here inDawlish.
They are really lovely ducks

There is only one of these on this lake and it turned up only a few months ago. I have been wondering what it was ever since.
I havent seen any others in any other lakes around here.

Its an escaped domestic bird
There are about a dozen or more at Owlish and of course thee interbreed so there are some very large mallard half breads too. They are lovely ducks I believe they are called Runners
