Certainly bossing the garden, shooing all of the blackbirds away from the dried mealworms, strangely enough, seems to put up with the Starlings.

Thanks Beryl, found out later that they'd invaded gardens en masse todaylots of people reporting them. Didn't get Redwings, but they were in the trees in a neighbour's garden.

The Spring migration usually I supose as you say with Red wings.

I was in the local park one day when a massive flock of Chiffchaffs landed. I couldn't believe my eyes. The lawn was covered. They had just arrives]d and must have been exhausted

Don't think it's migration, they are normally here this time of year, just not near gardens.

    Great photo, Rolf!

I've got one too, bossing all the other birds and acting like a dog in the manger over the crab apple tree - as he cannot eat them all himself!

Indeed, the time he spends chasing Blackbirds away, he could have scoffed lots, but he never has time as he is always chasing!

(MY photos taken by phone camera a through window, so not so good!)

Great shots Catherine, we had to trim back the Pyracantha near the front window last year, so no real show of berries this year, shame as we had Redwings at the window with the last bad snow.

Thanks! I like the truck one, but my phone camera produces very blurred shots most of the time. (Maybe needs adjusted?)

These were taken later with my Fujifilm one - once I found batteries which worked....!
