    Default Exminster Marsh 'Ticks'

Did the 2.5 mile circuit of Exminster marsh (again) this morning - what another great day (aren't they all?) Together with the large numbers of Greylag, Brent and Canada geese, and widgeon, teal and godwits, there were a couple of bullfinch, flocks of linnet, a kingfisher, a merganzer and.......the same long-eared owl that I'd seen before....and......a glossy ibis and......a red-breasted goose Beautiful birds. Have attached a couple of pics of those 2, but not the best quality due to the wind and overcast day.

I don't know how I'm going to put up with days like this!

    Bob.

How wonderful that you saw (and captured) both these birds, Bob!

In the late summer and up until about Christmas, there were 2 or 3 Glossy Ibis at Stanpit (Christchurch Harbour) which is near us, but we managed to miss them every time we went there!

Lots of Brent Geese are at Keyhaven (near Lymington) and Stanpit also, and there's apparently one Red-breasted Brent amongst them - but it avoided us too!

Superb Bob, well done, would love to see a Glossy Ibis again and have never seen the Red-breasted Goose.

They're both firsts for me - beautiful birds. Sorry you missed them in your area, Catherine!
