Olympus Evolt E520, and borrowed lenses and flash. Fuji Finepix S7000 for Macro A chair :)

    Default Gulls

I don't get to see sea-birds often, so am undecided.

#1 - I thought that this may be a Little Gull rather than a Black Headed as the head-colour is grey/black and the underwing looks dark, and although you can't be sure with the shadow, I think the beak looks more dark than red.

#2 - wondered if it could be a juvenile Black Headed, but there are still things I don't like about that - the pattern on the top of the wing and the darker underwing for instance.

Damn - why can't these birds stick to one set of clothes

They both look like BHGs to me, but I might be wrong!

There is quite a variation in BHG head marking down here just now. I think that the breeding plumage is on the way out, young BHG's are taking on some of the adult markings, and their beaks are a weird red/black colour mix at the moment!

(If you check BHG images on Google, you'll see what I mean!)
