Is that an old hole, bored some years ago - do you think? It doesn't look light enough to be newly bored wood anyway. Do you think a bird has drilled it, or an electric drill - it looks so perfect!
I'm not sure if GSWs re-use old holes as nests, but, if they do, that one seems a bit on the small side for him. Could it have been a LSW's nest-hole before?

That has to be an old hole . I have seen a Woody making a new one and the wood ,would be whitish and fresh But it was that sizes . Whether he had finished it when I saw the one I was watching last year here in Exmouth I don't know. I have never see a bigger one hole though
I really don't know if they reuse holes.
