    Default Killhope (Weardale County Durham)

    This is part of the Killhope Minig Museum in Weardale. If you are ever up that way its well worth a visit - the restored overshot wheel is most impressive. Much of the original gubbins has gone now, but ore wagons used to be winched up that wooden incline, tipped at the top and the ore crushed before further processing. Theres at least one record of someone getting caught in the wheel machinery.....
