The equipment I use is a Canon 30D with Sigma 50-500mm lens. I also have a garden hide from which I take most of my pictures.

Thanks all , errrr spooks.....well I like the scene and the colour but the quality I'm not 100% happy with do you know what I mean. If I'm not mistaken I took this shot on landscape mode on my 350D.

I have been trying a bit of manual but am I right in thinking I need to set the f stop to something like 12 or 13. I know nothing about f stops ( I haven't a clue about them but I have read it somewhere recently, may have been on this site) I will check my manual.

Because we have taken up walking again I get lots of opportunity to take loads of different landscapes

The way I take my landscapes at the moment, Babs, is to set the focus to manual, set you lens to oo (infinity mode) and in apature mode, set an apature between f16-f22 - f16 will probably be best since it won't soften the final image.

    Hope this helps

Try using the A-Dep setting on your 350D Babs

Hi and thankyou both, I remember you telling me once before digidark to use the A-Dep ooops! I forgot

Today I did try AV and f16 but as you can see in the pic the sky is all burnt out I will have to practice the different fstops which you mention

    Thanks again for your encouragement
