Green-winged Teal

Here is a (heavily cropped poor quality image) of a Green-winged Teal for Beryl, the N American cousin of our Teal.

You can look for one amongst the Teal after you have found a Scaup amongst the 'Tufties' it makes bird watching more interesting and exciting.

That's a pretty bird Pete, do they often appear?

Had a good look though my Tufty photos and not a Scaup to be seen unfotunately.

No, neither appear very often Rolf, you could look for them for ever. But they are around in numbers and the only way to 'turn one up' is to keep looking.

I have a motto for my birding Rolf......Not what you will see, but rather what you might, the element of suprise never fails to delight.

What lovely colours in this Teal Pete, i am not very up on ducks, I got to know a few visiting Martin Mere

Famous for its winter Whooper Swans Babs (over one thousand there this winter) amongst other things. It also has an impressive record for some excellent birds to have been seen there over the years and will continue to produce them. Its quite a good place to spend the day. I'm a member of the WWT on the principal you must/should support at least one wildlife group.

Yes me too pete, we are also members of the WWT and I just love to visit martin mere we are also memebrs of the RSPB. We were at Martin Mere a few weeks ago and there were quite a lot of swans there then the most I have ever seen and it was a wonderful sight.
