    Went through there yesterday to get to the services on M1 between J30 and 31 for an interview, the fog was bad, also it was extremely bleak, the following were taken using my phone but they are not monochrome pictures

    Not bad photos from a mobile phone Neil. You're certainly right about the bleakness.

    Fujifilm FinePix S8200 plus Samsung J5 mobile phone camera. Chinon Compact 9-21 x 25 RB binoculars and 10x - 30x60 Zoom binoculars

    There are some really beautiful parts there though - when the sun shines! Have you been there in better weather?

    We were going from the M6 to the M1 one summer (because the former was jammed) that WE found the Peak District - Buxton, etc. - and loved it.

    BTW, hope the interview went well!

    I have been to Buxton in good weather and you are correct Catherine it is a beautiful part of the country, I was just taken aback by the lack of anything.
    The interview went very well but alas I was not successful. I drove 180 miles for nothing, never mind I am not alone in this matter
