Eyeing up my pond

This Heron spent a good while eyeying up my pond this afternoon, allowed me to get close enough to get a shot

It's a great shot Well done.
They only stop off at garden ponds if they are on their flight path. Herons have flight paths

Yes, there is a stacking pattern over our woods Chocky.

Oh well you may well have a visitor Costly though.
They used to nick my friend's Koi she used to get so upset.
I lived off the path of th Heron and round the corner I had two Koi and two Golden Orf (all over a foot long ) and the Heron never visited.
Next doors cat used to make off with my shubunkin Calicos though
