A Borrowed Camera

My camera being indisposed I borrowed my sister in laws camera on days out. I downloaded what I had taken onto my PC and had forgotten about them until yesterday. This is one which I like, it is the fully restored Marsh Mill at Thornton-Cleveleys near Blackpool

It is a few yards from the famous Seniors Fish and Chips restaurant. As regards being the centre of the villiage that is probably a yes but I am not all that familiar with the place and the windmill is surrounded by a modern but tastefully built brick complex of tiny gift and art shops etc

There is a windmill (minus the sails) at a little place up the coast from Thornton - Cleveleys named Pilling.

I could happily live in a windmill too Beryl. It is a pity the sails are not still in place on this one I mention but it is an otherwise excellent example and well maintained of a mainly by gone age.

Thanks Beryl, But I'm afraid I could not live in a round building I would go gaga

Never seen that one Pete, perhaps I should have done seeing as my parents had Preesall Post Office

On Taylors Lane next time you are in the area 'topper'. Interesting your parents had the PO at Preesall. Are they now not there because of retirement/moved on/or worse still the PO closed down.

Going back a way there Pete they they sold it in the 80's but I was there last year and the Post Office is indeed closed along with the shop.

Thornton and Cleveleys were originally two small townships.Cleveleys on the coast and Thornton a few miles inland.As they spread,they became Thornton -Cleveleys.Cleveleys has the usual seaside stuff and the trams that run from Blackpool to Fleetwood.Thornton would probably be termed "The Posh End".I havent seen the windmill for some years(it used to be a landmark for me when I was in the RAF and visiting home in Fleetwood)It certainly looks spruced up to the way it was then.
