Excellent captures Babs. Well done
Thankyou very much for your kind comments
Nice trio of Great Tit portraits babs.
Pete.
Thanks Pete, the amount of birds visiting has started to increase now the temperature has dropped slightly. I also notice that the coal tit and the great tit are eating the sunflower hearts on the nearby branches instead of flying off with them like they did all summer.
Time to start looking for Redwing and/or Fieldfare. Can't wait to see you telling us about them in your garden and the accompanying pic.
Have you had them in your garden on the berries/apples on the ground in previous years Babs ?
Pete.
As far as I know Pete I have only seen one Fieldfare in my garden when we first moved into out house 14 years ago, then the garden all 120ft long and 60ft wide was lawn with conifers bordering down both sides. We have an apple tree and the blackbirds love the windfalls. I bought a Rowan tree in July 2007 and couldn't wait for the Thrushes to appear and eat all the berries, well first year no berries and this year it is in a sad state because all its leaves have died so that wasn't such a good idea. I put it in the middle of the garden so it would have room to spread out but maybe it didn't like the wind and wanted to be sheltered.
Fieldfare and Redwings are in in their thousands Babs, you're sure to get your quota......let us know with a pic.
P.S.
Don't forget to leave the apples on the 'floor'. Ohhh, and plant a new Rowan.
Pete.
