Trial of Olympus OM MC Auto-T 1:4,5 f=300mm

Slapped my OM to 4/3s adaptor on this legacy lens and quickly popped a few photos hand held, this is one from around 3 metres.

The idea of buying the lens was as a stop gap prior to buying the Zuiko 70-300mm for birds in flight etc.

Seems to be a little soft on distance shots, but will try some more later in the week when I have more time.

Olympus OM series of cameras and lenses, 4/3s series refers to the latest range of cameras and lenses, Olympus, Panasonic and Leica, Kodak to follow I believe.

The adapter allows me to use the legacy OM lens on the new Four Thirds system cameras, unfortunately without autofocus and aperture setting though.

These old (legacy) lenses can be bought for a relatively small amount of money, so if they work well, can be a cheap way of adding to one's armoury.

I find with mine some of these add-ons can really make the pic bad. I used a filter today and found it only to be useful on the swans and a white butterfly. The rest of my pics needed much work even though I turned it to light. I think it might be because there is a slight gap between the camera lens and the filter lens

Here are two pictures of the 300mm OM lens itself, followed by one taken with the 50-500 with EC-14 attached, but set to an equivalent focal length then followed by a picture taken with the OM 300mm, .

very nice. I can see the difference
I probably need to practice with mine . The butterfly comes out nicely and the veins show well.
As for the teleplus conversion X2 lens.Well........................... That's in a draw some where I'm sure it's just me. but it does need a tripod to use it and by the time my tripod is set up the subject has gone. Having said that flower stay pretty much in one place I know but then I'm not into flowers really.
And it doesn't work on action ,slightest handshake and the shutter release won't fire. I'm sure it is all down to me though

Front end teleconverters don't tend to work too well, the one I use on the E-500 (the EC-14) fits betwen the camera and main lens, but is is far more expensinve than the ones which fit on the other end.

Mine does, the converssion lens fits on to the camera and the lens fits onto the that.

I couldn't believe the hand shake with the extra lens and it's not that big or heavy and I have a fairly steady hand (most of the time )
