    Default Dunno......ck ? Don't think so

I don't think it's a Dunnock. The eye markings are wrong and the beak is thick and the wings have slate blur edging/.

I don't think it ids a sparrows it has a flecked under side and the beak is not thick enough and again the wings have the slate blue edging and the eye markings are all wrong

And it doesn't look like a Pipit
Has to be one of them. It ha brown-ish / Orange-ish legs but so do dunnocks and some Pipits and so does the house Sparrow

Could it be a Twite, Beryl?

(Check the pic on the top lhs of this page!
    The RSPB: Twite)

Otherwise check female Linnet or female Redpoll!

Nice find - whatever it is!

Oh. I have never seen a Twite . Or this bird before.
Yes I think you are right. And the little singing as they flew off in to a tree was the same.
    Thanks Catherine

Shame it's not quite good enough for the forum. I'll go back and look for some more tomorrow or whn the weather permits

I don't really know about that, Beryl, but if you could take away some of the glare caused by lighting conditions, or darken the midtones, it looks really good!

(I'm not really sure about how the Gallery works anyway. Are pics posted there only on Rolf's invitation?)

I think Rolf is right. A female Linnet
The Twite has a black stripe through the eye and a yellow beak .
    Thanks Rolf

No. Can't get rid if the glare. I tried and i certainly wouldn't put it in the gallery. I meant it wasn't good enough for the forum.
