I'm getting old
Beryl I'm a little worried about your post above as I cannot understand it......what does it mean?

Slaguggla Strix uralensis
Well done again, all three of You.
Here is a special bird or rather a special version
I'd make that one a Jack Snipe, Lymnocryptes minimus, but probably wrong, as i haven't seen many of this species.
Yes, they are not that common Pity as it is a nice bird(in many ways)
Dvärgbeckasin Lymnocryptes minimus
The Swedish word dvärg means mini

BTW, all those birds are found here in Sweden and the pics are very fresh, often from the very same day !!
My favourite medium sized bird, the Fieldfare - Turdus pilaris.
Agree with you on this one Rolf......Fieldfare. Didn't know it was your medium sized favoutite bird Rolf.
Pete.
LOL, it gained that honour partly because it took me so long to get a decent photo of one Pete. I'm also intrigued by the sound of their calls, have on several occasions sat in the van just listening to them.
Yes and yes again Nice birds
Björktrast Turdus pilaris
Next bird is a raptor, if You look closely You can see the pray
Looks like a Great Skua - Catharacta skua
I would agree with Rolf
I'd say Arctic Skua Stercorarius parasiticus.
I'M curious why you say it's a raptor 'digdeep'.
Pete.
I think an Arctic Skua is much lighter
Perhaps because it is that the great skua is carnivorous and eats other birds
Yes Chocky I think that raptor means a bird of prey could be an american word ? They do call a fighter plan Raptor
The bird was, just like Merlin wrote a :Storlabb Stercorarius skua
Well done
Oh well when I looked up 'Storlabb Stercorarius skua' it says Great Skua.
And when I looked up ' Stercorarius parasiticus' it says Arctic Skua is what Merlin said
Well done Pete.
