I'd make that one a Jack Snipe, Lymnocryptes minimus, but probably wrong, as i haven't seen many of this species.

I'M curious why you say it's a raptor 'digdeep'.

I think an Arctic Skua is much lighter

Perhaps because it is that the great skua is carnivorous and eats other birds

Yes Chocky I think that raptor means a bird of prey could be an american word ? They do call a fighter plan Raptor

The bird was, just like Merlin wrote a :Storlabb Stercorarius skua

Oh well when I looked up 'Storlabb Stercorarius skua' it says Great Skua.

And when I looked up ' Stercorarius parasiticus' it says Arctic Skua is what Merlin said

An easy one for a cold Monday Had -2 C this morning Always much colder when You are not used to it. In January we don´t say that -2 is cold . January and February can be as cold as -15 - 20 C Lucky for me usually only for a week or so, normal temp is more like -5

He is beautiful. Some one came to my son's primary school with a display of owls and the Eagle Owl was amongst them and the Long Eared and very large owls. Long time ago now My son is 30yrs old

The story about this picture is that it flew into a window and fell to the ground, dizzy and almost knock-out but they took it domn to the water and she did revive OK
