    I should really keep quiet, but I'm having a quiet giggle here at that last post!

    Billy's right. Bird should all be named because of the way they look, or because of something they do! (I'm thinking of Green Woodpecker, GSW, Pied Wagtail, etc. here)

    Yes, we can (perhaps) see now why that bird is called a Hawk Owl, but why are Gulls, Robins and Pigeons so named? Where is the logic there?

    However, be assured, we still DO learn the names of many by checking Rolf's IDs, Crister...
