Found this on my walk yesterday in some ones back yard on a shed
I wasn't going to upload it as apart from being difficult to get near most were out of focus until I realized I had also shot one or two in raw.
This photo was shot in raw and the clarity is really some thing compared to th others shot in jpg . This has photo been slightly lightened but that is all
And this one today at the top of the main raod hill in Exmouth
Unfortunately I had to take it against the sun a I couldn't get to the other side. But it has turned out seeable

This one is on the nice little church in Ordino about 10 miles from Andorra La Vella.

This one is across the border at the rather nice walled town of Villefranche in France. Its obviously a proud French cockerel - shame I couldnt get high enough to photo it properly

Weather vane - Finchley Memorial Hospital, North London
Not very exciting, (London doesn't seem to do exciting when it comes to weather vanes!), but I also included a blue plaque for the famous and influential 19th century clown. Grimaldi. As you can see, people are still watching him
The vane is on the old part of the hospital and the plaque on a new bit.
Great show of vanes every one. I particularly like the portable one at the bottom of the stops
A few weeks ago I mentioned story of the fox and the plum tree with respect to Galashiels tradition.
Well the Galashiels town crest depicts a fox trying to reach the ripe fruits on a plum tree. The motto Sour Plums (locally written soor plooms) refers to a Border raid (of which there were many!) which happened in 1337, during which a party of English soldiers were taken by surprise whilst gathering plums. The brave English lads were savagely murdered by the locals
The story allows me to wind up the locals every year when it comes round to the annual Braw Lads celebrations - I tell them the whole shebang is actually a celebration of wilful murder of the English soldiers!
They get very annoyed with me!
Anyway back to the main topic. This is a picture of the weather vane on top of the council buildings in Galashiels. As you can see its a rather fine depiction of a fox trying to reach the fruit on a plum tree

That IS a lovely vane, and a great story - thanks for telling us. I suppose the motto of the story is : "don't mess with a scotsman's plums"
ANyone in the Wadebridge area??Apparently Wadebridge Town Hall has had a new steam loco shaped weather vane presented to them to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the first trains on the Bodmin-Wadebridge line in 1834!
