Hrrrumph!
OK, well done, Rolf!..............
(Just so you see I'm not unsporting!)
No hard ´feelings then ?
A new bird, perhaps it sits in a tree could be an tipit then
Of course not, Crister!
(Like your own photo too!)
Now, something tells me that 'tree bird' COULD be an Aquatic Warbler - Acrocephalus paludicola - the one I guessed for your last photo?
But then, you wouldn't do that, would you?
Of course not lol
Perhaps a Sedge Warbler? Acrocephalus schoenobaenus
Sure is Rolf
Sävsångare Sedge Warbler Acrocephalus schoenobaenus
Oh, it´s Monday again
Here is a bird for the Ladies
OK, give us a few days, Rolf!
It's maybe a bit too brown, but I'm going for a female Sparrowhawk - Accipiter nisus................ ?
Good finding
Sparvhök Eurasian Sparrowhawk Accipiter nisus
Well done !
Oh, thank you, Crister!
Yes, I needed a simpler one....
Now can you find a REALLY difficult one for Rolf - and others of course?
That will not be easy to find
I´ll start with this one.
I'll have a pot at Red-necked Phalarope - Phalaropus lobatus, never seen one, but would love to.
Yes it is, seems to be more common here then !
Smalnäbbad simsnäppa Red-necked Phalarope Phalaropus lobatus
Well found
So, let us see if You seen one of those
Sorry Chris, missed this one. After a little research of the Plover family, looks like it may be a Dotterel, Charadrius morinellus.
Well done Rolf
Fjällpipare Eurasian Dotterel Charadrius morinellus
Are they common in the UK ? We have tons of them during summertime.
Nope, certainly not down South, the breeding population appears to be limited to Scotland, but then winters in much warmer climes.
Think this one is more common
Yes very common Chris, so common in fact that it appears further up this page.
Oh, why did you tell him, Rolf?
Hmm, I was in a hutty BUT I had a strange feeling that it was a re-runner.
Will fix it tomorrow I hope, will be late tomorrow, have some early business to attend.
LOL, that was too easy, was it not !?
OK I hope that I am on the right track again
I think it is a Buzzard - Buteo buteo....?
At least it has the under-wing pattern of those which fly above us here!
Sorry but it is not - could be a look-alike from below
Right, since Rolf is not trying, it must be something too hard - or too easy - for him to guess...
So I'll hope for the latter - and say Golden Eagle - Aquila chrysaetos, as the under-wing pattern is similar to a Buzzard's, but the breast feathers are darkish. The 'fingers' at the wing tips are also 'Golden Eagle-ish'!
Well, it is a Buzzard so give me a better alternative
Must pay attention, missed this one. Well if it's definitely a Buzzard, then how about a Honey Buzzard - Pernis apivorus?
No doubt Rolf is correct - but I'm going to guess Rough-legged Buzzard - Buteo lagopus
.... just in case he's not - as not even our webmaster is perfect!
Yes and No
Yes it is an Bivråk European Honey Buzzard Pernis apivorus
and
No, he is not always perfect
No-one is perfect
Look what I found ! Wonder if You could tell me what it is called ?
OK, I'm still trying...
Hen Harrier - Circus cyaneus?
Never mind if I'm wrong, as that'll eliminate it for others!
Well, I admitt that it is not the clearest picture I have seen so it is OK to guess
However You guess was not right, but not far from.....
I'll have a guess at Pallid Harrier, not a bird we'd normally see in this neck of the woods though. Circus macrourus
H'mmm - Montagu's Harrier then - Circus pygargus (Male again!) ?
What a circus
Stäpphök Pallid Harrier Circus macrourus
Don´t think we see too many here in Sweden. This one was found in the middle of Sweden.
OK, so it's 'Well done, Rolf!' - again......
P.S. What's that dog sniffing at him for though?
LOL. That was my little friend at Keyhaven, she decided to follow me, rather than her owners.
Here is a multi question One easy and one not that easy (I hope)
