Well that's what I think it is.
Well that's what I think it is.
Then we'll both tell Crister that's what it is!
(I do hope he is feeling better tonight. Do you think I should send him the recipe for that 'wee toddy'? )
Might not be a bad idea, he usually has a good supply of blended Whiskey and single malts, so should have the makings.
Again we have a winner
Kustsnäppa Red Knot Calidris canutus
Well done !
So here is an easy one but still a nice one
**hands up** "me sir, me sir... I know sir!"
its either this one or that one.... hummmm louise give us a clue!!
Yes, spill the beans !
We all want to know......
It's a Moorhen with young ones - Gallinula chloropus .... I could manage that one
Yes it is
Rörhöna Common Moorhen Gallinula chloropus
well done
It's one of the few birds I can spot easily
At last - it´s Monday again
and a new fresh bird for You all
Looks like it could be a Broad-billed Sandpiper - Limicola falcinellus, a rare visitor in the UK as far as I know.
Yes it is
Myrsnäppa Broad-billed Sandpiper Limicola falcinellus
Here is a new one, can anyone tell me it´s name ??
yellow wagtail.. i shall hunt latin in a sec..
Sorry Billy but it is not
Looks like a Black Redstart - Phoenicurus ochruros, although the colour under the tail looks more yellow than red and was putting me off the scent.
Yes, I have to pick strange pictures for You guys here !
Svart rödstjärt Black Redstart Phoenicurus ochruros
Good finding
SO, it is Monday again
Not one single guess on this bird ??
OK, I'll take a punt at Lesser Black-backed Gull - Larus fuscus.
Well, it was a good try Rolf but I must say No.
Looks very like this first winter Herring Gull I saw in Mallaig on Saturday - Larus argentatus
- Though the beak of yours does look a lot larger!
Sorry, now we have two good guesses.
OK...
So it can only be a Great Black-backed Gull - Larus marinus
- Can't it?
(I'm going by the larger beak here! )
of course not lol
OK... You are SO cruel, Crister...
I'm not letting Rolf get this one though....
So, what about a Yellow Legged Gull? Larus michahellis?
Hmmmm, how about Iceland Gull - Larus glaucoides?
That was better
Medelhavstrut Yellow-legged Gull Larus michahellis
Well done !
Oooh.... That was well worth the wait, Crister!
, Rolf!
Suddenly it is Monday again !
Time for a nice bird question.
I'll make an early guess for Tree Pipit - Anthus trivialis
('cause it's in a tree! )
Birds usually are in trees - that would make them all Tree Pipit ????
Sorry but I must say No!
Certainly looks like a Pipit, but which one is anyone's guess, I'll try for Water Pipit - Anthus spinoletta
No, Crister! I just see it as a Pipit - and in a tree - thus my guess!
So... I'll go for Meadow Pipit now...
Now You guys made me worried
You seems to be fully aware of that it is a pipit
It is not, I am sure
or I made an error
Must have a new lookie tomorrow morning just to be sure - that I am right and You both are wrong !!!! (I have the pictures at work)
May not be a Pipit Chris, but the photo is not too clear. If it isn't a Pipit, perhaps it's one of the larger warblers with a patterned back, so a guess would be Grasshopper Warbler - Locustella naevia.
Ok, so I'll go for Aquatic Warbler then....... Acrocephalus paludicola
Yes, that's definitely IT!
(Although I'm starting to see the colours of a lady Wheatear now...... )
LOL, this is an awkward one.
