Yep - looks good... I love the 'swept-back' hair
Yep - looks good... I love the 'swept-back' hair
Here is something for You all
Another difficult one - I'll take a stab at a Cirl Bunting - Emberiza cirlus
OK, so I'll try a different one - even if it's just to make Louise seem clever
What about a female Reed Bunting - Emberiza schoeniclus?
[BTW, Crister, maybe there's something about Rolf that we didn't know...
But (she hastily adds, showing respect for the Webmaster), 'I really don't THINK so!']
I can't argue with that Catherine - it was one of my possibilities.... I have a list of them (so, you're going to have to work harder to make me look clever)
OK
You better start working harder now. Still looking for a correct answer lol
LOL - we are not obviously not as good as Rolf at this - still, it gives us practice
But I HAVE been working hard, Crister!
Now, I thought at first that it looked like a Finch (because of the beak), but it didn't look like any I knew, so I followed Louise in the Bunting direction - but it doesn't really match any of those either - at least not the common ones here...
So I'm lost!
R-O-L-F! Help!
Well, look closer...... (BTW it is a byśnting) at the beak!!!!
The patterning down the breast that almost makes lines, makes it look like a Lapland Bunting (Calcarius lapponicus), although the face looks a little plain. Still, I'll take a stab at that.
A stab that will miss, sorry to say
I'm trying again before Rolf gets here - a Corn Buntng? Emberiza calandra
Please say it's right......
Yes, that is better
Kornsparv Corn Bunting Emberiza calandra Well done !
Gosh, it“s Monday again !
Here is the Monday Bird
Looking at the black under the breast, it would appear to be a Dunlin - Calidris alpinia.
Welcome back Maestro
Kärrsnäppa Dunlin Calidris alpina
Yep, we've missed you Rolf -we know nothing!
Did you HAVE to tell him that, Louise?
I thought we were getting along without him really well. Weren't we, Crister?
You guys are doing a great work !
There will soon be a new bird for You.
Here is an easy one for You
Looks like a Sandpiper, perhaps a Wood Sandpiper - Tringa glareola?
It not just looks like, it is !
Grönbena Wood Sandpiper Tringa glareola
Green legs in Swedish
May I tease You with this little bird ???
How about a Little-ringed Plover - Charadrius dubius?
How about that
Mindre strandpipare Little Ringed Plover Charadrius dubius
Well done Rolf BTW In Sweden we usually call a guy named Rolf "Roffe" never heard that in UK
Nope, not a name used in the UK, Rolf isn't that common, probably more Ralphs about, something I often get called.
Among other things no doubt!
['Rolf' is more 'continental' perhaps, though 'Ralph' is definitely very English.
Both are rare north of the Border!]
Anyway, Rolf/'Roffe', remember that the next bird ID is mine!
LOL, you've got it Catherine.
OKAY so here we go "Roffe" and "Cathy"
OK, 'Crissy'!
I'll start with - a Black Tailed Godwit, in summer plumage (though the beak doesn't look long enough....) - Limosa limosa
(Now, that's just my first guess, Rolf!)
Ooh ooh, I know, I know, he said thrusting his hand in the air as per primary school.
Well, you can just wait until Louise has had her turn!
Boys can be SO pushy, can't they?
(Where's Carin anyway?)
What is Your second guess ?
Just thinking.......
Curlew Sandpiper? - Calidris ferruginea
Well, at least I'm trying!
Where is Louise just now?
Cooking my curry for tonight.
Ooh ooh, I know, I know.
Then just keep quiet and eat your curry!
(I like her as she looks like me!)
Guess I have to try again though.......?
It's a KNOT, isn't it?! - Calidris canuta
